Alateen Announcement:
(revised, June 2022)
Alateen is for children who have been affected by someone
else’s drinking. Our goal is to bring more children into the
rooms of Alateen to help them better cope with this powerful,
baffling, and cunning disease.
Providing Alateen literature to a parent or child is an effective
way to bring awareness of the family disease of
Alcoholism.
Al Anon literature includes two suggested pamphlets:
How Can I Help My Children?
Youth and the Alcoholic Parent
There is one Alateen meeting in District 159.
Sunday 9:30am at the 24 Hour Club.
Visit our website: naplesal-anon.org for more information.

Article Published in the Naples News:
April
Alcohol Awareness Month
April is Alcohol Awareness Month. The Al-Anon Family Groups are a family resource for people who are troubled by someone else’s drinking.
We were co-founded in 1951 by Lois W., the wife of Bill W., the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. We have over 25 active meetings in Collier County.
One of our members shared what our program has done for her:
“The normal in my life has changed dramatically since I had the courage to walk into the rooms of Al-Anon," said Julie B. (Al-Anon has a tradition of anonymity).
“There was a time I wondered if the knife-in-my-back feeling would ever go away. Would the time come that I was not walking on eggshells for fear of saying or doing the wrong thing?
“I wasn’t comfortable enough with myself to ask for help. I thought I had to take care of my family on my own and by myself. There seemed to be no other way, so I continued to do the same thing over and over, expecting different results.
“Today I live a life free, free of chaos, free of judgement and free to be me. Al-Anon’s Twelve Step Recovery has given me a life I never dreamed was possible. I live one day at a time, finding hope and happiness in every minute of my day."
To find out whether Al-Anon could help you, call 239-263-5907 or see www.naplesal-anon.org for a meeting schedule and location.

Naples Daily News Dear Abby Article
District 159 Members: A Dear Abby article appeared in the Naples Daily Newspaper on April 12th, 2018. Because the column referred the writer to Alateen, WSO has recommended that we send thank you letters to the editor. This will encourage the editor to print more letters that reference Al-Anon, as it is at the discretion of the editor what gets printed. This is a HUGE opportunity for our district to get the word out about our wonderful program!
If you can also mention our local website “NaplesAl-Anon.org" this will spread the word and allow locals to visit our site for meeting locations.
Letters to the editor can be emailed to: letters@naplesnews.com
All letters must include your name, city of residence and contact phone number.
You can request anonymity due to the nature of our program.
